Hi everyone! I’m back from my little blogging vacation and ready to hit the ground running in 2013! I’m doing something a little different this week, instead of just single line prompts, I an giving you stanzas from poetry to use as you wish! I hope you have fun with this!
Monday
“Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire,
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.” ~Robert Frost
Tuesday
Poised or clumsy, placid or high-strung,
they’re expert in the art of introspection,
these creatures that I briefly move among—” ~ Marilyn Taylor
Wednesday
“Because time will not stand still for us
But it will pretend every once in a while
And up here, forgotten, is just you, me
One sea chest holding a single valentine
and the poetry of our hearts” ~ Billy Corgan
Thursday
“Because I could not stop for Death–
He kindly stopped for me–
The Carriage held but just Ourselves–
And Immortality.” ~ Emily Dickenson
Friday
“The heralded one, of course:
after sex, the two glowing tips
now the lights of a single ship;” ~ Billy Collins
Saturday
“in life
one is always
balancing
like we juggle our mothers
against our fathers
or one teacher
against another
(only to balance our grade average)
3 grains of salt
to one ounce truth” ~ Nikki Giovanni
