‘Excuse the mess, but I live here’

The title of this article is a quote by Roseanne Barr, and while it may sound legit and it may even make sense, it most certainly does not when it comes to your blog.

What am I talking about?
The past weeks I have seen a lot of blogs. A. Lot. While going through the backlog of applications we had for our group. One of the things we check is, well doh, the blogs. Now I am not going point out and smack blogs or people, but it reminded me it was time I needed to check my own blog, and clean it up.

Dead links
In the past years I have written posts on why it is important to take some time, preferably every 6 months, to go through your own blog and check if all the links, the information on pages are still up to date. Nothing annoys visitors more than dead links in your blogroll, 2009 style profile pics on ‘about me’ pages and contact information that lead to nowhere because you changed e-mail and Social Media… etc.

They happen! It’s nothing to be ashamed of, but..you can avoid that by the 6 months cleaning up of your own blog.

'Excuse the mess but I live here' A Blogpost - I

Whether  you are a new SL Blogger Support Member or an oldie (or not even a member but a loyal reader of this site!)…please take the time to read my blogpost from 18 months ago, and perhaps you get inspired to have a good look at your site/Facebook page/your SL Profile/ Flickr Profile/Plurk, Twitter and what have you,  and improve it with new and up-to-date information.

Happy cleaning and blogging!

Where do you keep the sugar?

Its like I unintentionally “ordered” this article…. For a while now I am thinking, wanting to go back to SL full time. Create, meet, explore, learn. But before doing all that I want to clean up, remove everything thats not needed, overused, outdated, forgotten? Its not the fresh start, just making a room for new adventures 🙂 Love this post!

  2. Thanks for the reminder lady! I checked my traffic stats in blogspot. Added a new feed to my list ( who knew i was on iheartsl 😀 )

  4. Hi Caitlin, do you think just adding the designer name at every line item will help the problem, because for some scene/ decor blog there are just too many items to list LOL, so not sure if going back like some months back will help, too many parameter to check. So by adding the name, anytime ppl can just search the profile of that name and find the info.
